Alyssa Coffey

Communications Manager

Alyssa Coffey serves as a Communications Manager at BioSTL, where she helps tell the story of St. Louis' bioscience and innovation ecosystem. Currently a Doctoral Candidate in Political Communication, her research explores persuasive messaging, polarization, political attitudes, and how media shapes public perceptions of science.

Alyssa brings experience spanning communications strategy, message development, large-scale initiative planning, and strategic storytelling – from social media management to proactive media relations – across academia, healthcare, and now bioscience. Before joining BioSTL, she led communications support for pediatric and adult academic hospitals at SSM Health, including work supporting the launch of a new children’s hospital.

Prior to her industry work, Alyssa taught communications coursework as a Graduate Instructor at the University of Missouri and later as Visiting Faculty at Lindenwood University, covering media literacy, communication theory and research methods, public speaking, and interpersonal communication.

A proud Mizzou Tiger, Alyssa is finishing her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri, where she also completed her bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies. She also holds master's in Communication from Saint Louis University.

Outside of work, Alyssa is an avid St. Louis sports fan. You'll find her most Saturdays at Energizer Park, cheering on St. Louis City SC from the Supporters Section.
