If you struggle with weeds in your home garden, imagine battling them across hundreds of acres of fallow land, corn and soybean fields—where your entire livelihood is at stake. DeepAgro has been tackling this challenge in Argentina and South America through the successful use of AI technology. Their advanced SprAI platform detects weeds in real time and allows self-propelled sprayers to apply herbicides only where it is needed. This helps farmers enhance crop yields while reducing reliance on agrochemicals.
Recognizing the potential for their technology in the U.S., DeepAgro set its sights on expanding to the Midwest. St. Louis, with its strong agricultural and innovation ecosystem, became the clear choice. And within St. Louis, BioSTL emerged as the ideal home base for their operations.
A key part of their journey has been participation in the ReACH AgriFood Innovation Summit and Innovation Testbed (Regen AgriFood Coalition in the Heartland). This dynamic platform unites farmers, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge technologies and drive the future of regenerative agriculture.
“The ReACH Summit enabled us to connect with everyone in the ecosystem—growers, suppliers, traders, buyers, brokers, universities,” says Matías Nardi, DeepAgro’s Business Development Officer. “It’s been an amazing place for us to learn and share.”
“BioSTL’s ReACH Summit is designed to create momentum for ag innovation,” says Chad Zimmerman, BioSTL’s AgriFood Sr. Director. “We also aim to attract growing businesses like DeepAgro to put down roots in St. Louis. Once they come here, they see this is the best place in the U.S. to grow their business.”
Matías agrees. He saw BioSTL as more than just an office—it was a gateway to collaboration and credibility. “We wanted to bring this technology to American farmers to help them be more competitive, lower the cost of herbicide application, and increase sustainability,” he explains.
Bringing this technology to the U.S. is no small task, but DeepAgro is confident that St. Louis—and the network they’ve built through BioSTL—will be instrumental in their success. “We’re a small company from Argentina coming to a huge country. But when you’re part of a community that trusts and validates your work, it fuels you to keep going. Seeing the support from BioSTL and the entire ecosystem here—it’s incredibly rewarding.”
For DeepAgro, St. Louis isn’t just a location—it’s a launchpad for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable agriculture in the U.S.
