BioGenerator Ventures is seeking multiple qualified candidates to join our investment team. BioGenerator Ventures creates, builds, and invests in companies that are solving important problems in human health and agriculture. BioGenerator Ventures is the investment arm of BioSTL.

The BioGenerator Ventures portfolio is comprised of over sixty promising startups in human health and agriculture.  As a hands-on, catalytic investor, BioGenerator Ventures is often the first investor in a startup company and continues to support the business as it progresses.  Notable historical investments include CoverCress, Confluence, Benson Hill, Canopy Biosciences, and Galera.  Current active portfolio includes Wugen, Panome Bio, Solis Agrosiences, Plastomics, Geneoscopy, MediBeacon, INTENT, Sentiar, and Omniose.

Job Responsibilities:

Available positions allow for different degrees of supporting or leadership roles, commensurate with demonstrated experience. BioGenerator Ventures seeks Investment Professionals for our human health and agriculture teams. As a member of the BioGenerator Ventures investment team, these positions, utilizing scientific, finance, or business development experience, will actively participate in the following responsibilities:

• Creating and building de novo St. Louis bioscience companies
• Investing in both seed-stage and venture-backed bioscience companies
• Providing analysis of potential investments including written and oral recommendations
• Supporting existing portfolio companies as they advance their products and business models
• Building and supporting national investment syndicates
• Continuing to improve BioGenerator’s approach through new ideas and problem solving

Qualifications/Experience:

• PhD in life sciences or equivalent career experience, or MBA with relevant professional experience
• Deep understanding of life science technology with an emphasis on applied and commercial applications
• Deeply committed to building an inclusive, diverse team and organizational culture
• Highest personal integrity and commitment to excellence
• For more advanced roles, venture capital or related professional investment experience is required
• Experience with startup creation, management, due diligence, and capitalization is preferred

Skills: 

• Demonstrated track record of independent analytical thinking and successful multi-tasking
• Ability to excel in a team setting and independently
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituents (investors, inventors, faculty, entrepreneurs)
• Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines promptly and efficiently
• Ability to dissect and understand complex scientific and business issues
• Management of internal and external resources across multiple simultaneous projects
